FAQs

There is a common debate as to which form of collagen is ‘better’ and our stance is that it really comes down to personal preference! Theoretically, as marine collagen has a lower molecular weight it is thought to be more rapidly absorbed and therefore faster acting than bovine collagen. However, anecdotal evidence would suggest that most collagen users see the same benefits using either bovine or marine collagen. As results are very individual, a self-trial is always a great idea to see what works best for you - we recommend trying 3-6 months of one type then swapping over and trying the other variety.

Our Pure Collagen Natural (Bovine Collagen) is safe to take while pregnant and/or breastfeeding. It has no known allergens that would pose any risk to you or your baby.

Our Marine Collagen is not recommended while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. While some brands may promote marine collagen to be safe for pregnancy, we prefer to err on the side of caution as Marine Collagen does have associated risk of your baby developing marine sensitivities or allergies. However, feel free to do your own research around this or consult with your doctor or midwife.

Yes, all our collagen powders are keto-friendly. Remember, added flavour or sweetener will increase carb content and while we use low-carb natural sweeteners the lowest-carb option will always be the natural, unflavoured powder.

Most research surrounding the benefits of collagen has focused on a daily dose of 10g. Therefore, we recommend taking 10g per day for optimal results!

While peer-reviewed scientific research into the efficacy of collagen is still in its infancy, existing studies have found collagen to improve skin hydration and elasticity, joint pain and bone mineral density, gut health, hair and nail growth and health. Studies show that collagen can help reduce joint pain in athletes and may reduce the risk of joint deterioration in high-risk individuals. Furthermore, preliminary studies have also found ingested collagen peptides may accumulate in cartilage and help to increase bone mineral density and assist patients with joint-related disorders such as osteoarthritis.

If you like to spoil your pets then, yes by all means feed it to them! We have not done any research into this area, however, it has come to our attention that several dog breeders and pet owners feed our bovine collagen to their dogs and claim it does wonders for their coats.
